About the One Planet Living framework in City of Greater Geelong

Did you know you already live in a One Planet council?

One Planet Living is a vision of a world in which people enjoy happy, healthy lives within the natural limits of the planet, wherever they live in the world, leaving space for wildlife and wilderness.

The One Planet Living framework is based on ten easy-to-grasp principles. The first of the ten principles is about health and happiness – encouraging active, sociable, meaningful lives to promote good health and well-being.

City of Greater Geelong endorsed the One Planet Living framework two years ago as the third council in Australia to be formally assessed against the ten principles.

The framework enables the municipality to plan for, communicate and deliver sustainable development. It provides a clear, practical roadmap for those who are seeking a better way to live and do business.

Barwon Water has recently become the first water utility in Australia to embrace the One Planet Living framework, and more Geelong businesses and organisations are expected to join as well.
